Just an update

This site doesn’t really a lot of its hit on my updates its mostly people coming to look at the tutorial for Vero / OSMC. I’m cool with it but if you are curious in the last couple months. I have been suffering from severe pain in the neck not like I can’t get this code figured out pain in the neck literal pain. For 6 months or so I’ve been going to a Pain Management Center trying different things medicine injections and yes narcotics. physical therapy was not helping. Nothing was working good enough for me to go back to work. I was referred out to a surgeon. My first visit with the surgeon was a bit of an eye-opener the first thing he told me. I won’t even consider surgery if you’re a smoker and at the time I was a smoker. If I quit smoking he would do surgery on me so I quit smoking and 3 months later. I was on the operating table. I had cervical disc arthroplasty C3 C4 C5. Getting the surgery was the biggest decision I’ve ever made for myself. I was terrified and eager to do it at the same time A lot of mixed emotions. I did get it done everything went fine my surgeon said I was a great candidate and my range of motion is normal and maybe even better down the line than most people once everything heals up.

Although I like being off work and having all that free time. I do not like being on a medicine that is highly addictive that will have a grip on you which I already know it has a grip on me. I feel like a science experiment but let’s hope I’m not a statistic of the one that did not make it.

But let’s talk major surgery and the effects afterwards that’s what blew my mind. If you look up vivid dreams and anesthesia I think you will understand what I’m talking about. I have always been interested in psychedelic and Altered States of consciousness mainly Natural Altered States of consciousness. When I was a teenager I had my first Out of Body Experience. That experience alone as a teenager change the way I thought life was or is. It led me down a path of research on out of body experiences and consciousness and the way the mind works. I’ve read a lot of books on out-of-body experiences there is one book that I highly recommend you can actually read it online and he is a Linux user cool right! The author’s name is Robert Peterson the book is Out of body experiences how to have them and what to expect. Personally I’m not a spiritual man. I’m more on the lines of there is a scientific explanation for all of it but when you experience it yourself it makes you think. I started writing this post February 18th and today is April 3rd since then my neck has gotten better but is very sore in a couple weeks I go see my physician that did the surgery and I believe I start therapy. I have also have decreased on the controlled substance what a long road of recovery.

well that’s all

The new beta PIA app is very impressive (Linux)

If you have Private Internet Access VPN I recommend trying the beta app. Not only is it beautiful but it is completely open-source now. Prior to using the beta application I would have to do a couple extra steps on the stable application to work proper in KDE Neon. It wasn’t a big deal it was more cosmetic than anything but still drove me nuts this was the Issue and fix. I hope they continue to use the same look on the new beta app and don’t change it that much it looks perfect the way it is. The little logo of the man to show that you were connected or not connected has changed for the better in my opinion.

Here’s something interesting VPN Killswitch has a new feature called Auto from what I’m understanding if you lose connection with your VPN on Auto you will not leak out. If you have the kill switch set to off if you lose your VPN connection it will route back to your normal IP address. Always on setting network will only work if the VPN is on. If the vpn is no on or running you will not get outside traffic at all. A cool new feature if you have lan (local area network) set up in the app you can browse your local network with always on kill switch but then again that is not going out to wan (wide area network) so your good to go.

If you are running the stable version of the VPN app v82 and would like to try the beta here’s the instructions to remove the stable version and install the beta. Thank you PIAThomas on Reddit for the instructions.

Uninstall v82 before installing the beta. Open up a terminal and you’re going to remove some files with the some commands. First off turn off the private internet application by right-clicking the icon and hitting the quit button. It is best to just copy and paste the commands below

  1. rm -rf ~/.config/PrivateInternetAccess
  2. rm ~/.local/share/applications/pia_manager.desktop
  3. sudo rm -rf /opt/pia
  4. rm -rf ~/.pia_manager/

If all works its time to install the new beta https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/installer/download_installer_linux_beta The instructions are fairly straightforward.
